Like the most dragged-out of dragged-out horror villains, Heidi and Spencer's love will never die. Although they split in March amid much scepticism, a friend of Heidi's saw them hanging out at Heidi's house a few weeks ago.

"I saw Spencer, he seems really normal," Heidi's friend, Lauren Stone, told Radar. "He actually showed us his new project he's working on. He showed us a clip of the movie. I thought it was really funny. I think it's about a lifeguard that's trying to get girls." Can you say Oscar? Because if you can, you're too much of an intellectual for this movie.

One flaw in this story is that Heidi doesn't have A) a house or B) any friends. She moved out of the dog-poo-strewn home she was sharing with Spencer and his magic crystals and skipped out on living in a Malibu beach house with Hills nobody Jen Bunney to stay with a shady ex-marine "named" (term used loosely) Cougar Zank.

Audrina Patridge, who spent more time than is recommended with the couple over six seasons of The Hills, says the consensus among the cast is their split is all for attention, and not to escape a disturbing dysfunctional marriage filled with abuse, control issues, and gross beards.

"I think they're still together at the moment," she said (via ITN). "They just disappeared. I don't know what they do. None of us see them. None of us talk to them. They never go out of their house. So none of us really know what they're doing." Watching Spencer's lifeguard movie, that's what they're doing.

If this split is for publicity, it's pure Speidi-style publicity: they make no money off of it, it does nothing to enhance their image, and it raises questions like "what is wrong with them?" and "no, seriously, what is wrong with them?" But I must disagree with Madame Patridge and say this split is a real thing. It's not like this marriage is cut out for the long run. Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson they are not.
