Mike's Never Felt Like This Before (Except That One Time)
by Ryan Porter
Carrie Underwood set to break records for Mike Fisher's most serious relationship.
You may as well stop work on that oil-painting of Mike Fisher and Carrie Underwood. They won't be accepting wedding presents for awhile yet. The Ottawa Senators centre, 29, told the Toronto Sun he has no plans to propose to his girlfriend Carrie Underwood, 26, any time soon.
That doesn't mean it's not serious. After a year together, Carrie is getting close to breaking Mike's relationship record. "There has been only one other girlfriend, really," the Peterborough native tells a Toronto Sun writer, who he jokingly called "Ellen" because of the way the writer grilled Mike on such gushier matters. "It lasted a while, but it was a long time ago." Carrie told Ellen Degeneres last week that Mike, 29, is the guy she's dated the longest.
In the Underwood family, being single at 26 practically makes her the family spinster. Both of her older sisters, Shanna and Stephanie, were married by 24. "That's the way it works where I'm from," she told Entertainment Weekly in 2007. "I couldn't imagine myself being married." I mean, if there was a man in her bed, where would her Grammys sleep?
"I'm obviously happy," Mike went on to tell the Sun. "And it's been a good start so far on the ice, and things are great off the ice." Never mind marriage. I'd just be happy to see them together on the red carpet. I know he's missing teeth, but at country music events, that shouldn't be a problem.
