Just as we've put that traumatic Jennifer Aniston/Angelina Jolie run-in at the Oscars behind us, another awards show war is already being waged.
The battleground is Hollywood's 23rd most glamorous night, the Game Show Awards. On one side: Bob Barker, 85, a special guest of honour for his long history of fabulous pricing games. On the other: Betty White, 87, beloved nominee for Favourite Celebrity Player on Million Dollar Password. In the middle: as usual, an elephant.
Bob Barker has threatened to pull out of appearing at the inaugural awards ceremony if his fellow animal rights activist and "sworn enemy" Betty attends, a source tells the National Enquirer. Their fogie feud goes back to an elephant named Billy that had outgrown his pen at the Los Angeles Zoo.
Bob, supported by celebrities like Cher, offered to donate $1.5 million of his own money to have the Asian elephant relocated to the Performing Animal Welfare Society, a habitat in San Andreas, California. The zoo fought to keep him, enlisting the support of Betty White and Guns 'N Roses' Slash. They won, and a new home was built for Billy in the zoo. It left Bob more upset than a cardboard mountaineer falling to his death.
"Bob lost the fight," a source says. "And even though the zoo's elephant exhibition is being renovated and expanded, he's still livid with Betty over the issue and he doesn't want her presence ruining his big night." But with a guest list that includes Carrot Top, Joan and Melissa Rivers, and the Brady kids, there's no way anyone would miss this.
Hopefully this hallowed celebration of game shows isn't ruined by a scene. No one wants to see Betty White and Bob Barker get into it on the red carpet. Something could get broken. Like a hip.
